Valued customers, we announced in 2010 that we will be reducing our visibility at Train Shows so that we could spend more time doing the things that we want to do.
AS OF JAN 2018, ALL MOUNTAINVIEWDEPOT STOCK IS SOLD OUT. NO NEW STOCK WILL BE MANUFACTURED
We are enjoying the freedom of travelling and not being tied to a show schedule. You may see us selling personal stock at the occasional
show as I thin my collection to the items that I will use on my layout. Products may include commercially manufactured kits and home made items.
Thanks to all who have supported us over the years. Our contact information remains the same as in the past.
If you are looking from something special, please feel free to contact us.
MountainView Depot is a name that is recognized in Hamilton from many years ago. Chuck Doubrough and Carleton Smith started a mail order venture named MountainView Depot in the late 1960's to market books, photographs and collectable railroadiana to the collector and hobbyist. Photographs of Canadian Steam were often available to railfans on the CNR 6167 steam excursions and later fantrips when CNR 6218 came on the scene.
Carleton passed away several years ago and Chuck carried on the business for a while on his own. After retirement and with most of the stock depleted, Chuck decided to close down the operation and divert his energy towards a growing family of grandchildren. Chuck continued his personal collection of railroadiana and historical books. This collection would later be donated to the
Westfield Heritage Village where Chuck has been a major contributor to the restoration of
TH&B 2-8-0 #103
Being a good friend of Chuck's, it was suggested that the MountainView Depot name could be revived. A check of the business name registrations indicated that MountainView Depot was in fact available in Ontario. Thanks to Chuck, the name was registered and MountainView Depot is alive in Hamilton once again.
